What we offer

Start your healing journey.

  • Native American Sweats

This will be lead by the founder of Combat Hearts. He has earned the right to do sweats and other ceremonial healing practices from his Tribal Nation. If appropriate we will reach out to ceremonial leaders from other Tribal Nations.

  • Equine Therapy

Within the Native American culture horsemanship is extremely important and was very necessary before modern conveniences. We needed horses and we were one with them as we were with all living entities. The relationship between man and horse was that of mutually gain and partnership.

Equine therapy is meant to bring that relationship back with in the lives of traumatized people. We will have trained equine therapists that are contracted. The Equine leader will explain the activity to the participants. The participants will choose their horse and begin with an exercise to help them begin to bond with the horse. The equine leader will take them through various exercises to practice nonverbal communication with the horse. This will elicit trust between the two. Once the work is done with the horse the equine leader will take the participants into a room to discuss everyone's experiences. There will be writing exercises at the end of the session. The writing exercise will include a journal of the participants' thoughts and feelings on the activity as a whole.

  • Workshops

One of the classes will be Indigenous Historical Trauma. The executive director of Combat Hearts will lead this workshop. This workshop will include a film, power point presentation and a discussion. The purpose of this workshop is to begin the journey of healing for Indigenous people and understand the impact that this untold history has on us at this moment.

Healthy Relationships is another workshop that the executive director will lead. This workshop is about how to cultivate healthy relationships of all sorts. There is a workbook and other materials that will be given to participants. There is a lot of discussion and hands on activities for the participants.

We will also contract people who are experts in their field to do appropriate workshops for participants.

  • Art Expression

These workshops will be held by contracted art therapists. These workshops are intended to begin the healing process through art and in a way that the participants will feel comfortable.

  • Outdoor Recreation

These activities will be contracted or on a volunteer basis. Horseback riding, fishing, and hikes will all be guided activities.
